Firefoo is a well-regarded desktop GUI for Firebase Firestore, and for a solo developer it is a solid tool. When Firefoo is the better fit
- You work alone and nobody else ever touches the database.
- You need to browse the Local Emulator Suite or work fully offline.
- Company policy requires that tooling and credentials never leave your machine.
When FlintDB is the better fit
- Two or more people touch Firestore — developers, support, ops, QA.
- You are an agency managing many client projects and need per-project roles and collection ACL.
- You need to answer “who changed this document?” — audit log with before/after on every write.
- Someone once deleted the wrong document and you never want that feeling again — undo and retention-window recovery are built in.

Can I move from Firefoo to FlintDB?
Yes. FlintDB imports Firefoo’s JSON export format directly (including __id__
document ids), so you can bring collections across without reshaping the files.
Does FlintDB store a copy of my Firestore data?
No. Queries pass through to Firestore with each member’s own credentials; results are not retained. What FlintDB stores: workspace/member config, the audit trail, and (if enabled) recovery snapshots and backups — encrypted at rest. See Security.
